"Passion" by Jon Of The Pleased Wimmin

I love Jon of the Pleased Wimmin. I only have to see his name on it and I'm sold.

This is another song that my friend, Philippine Star executive vice president Lucien Dy Tioco, introduced to me. I remember how excited I was when I first heard it. The first piano breakdown of "Passion" was fantastic to hear in his red Corolla's speakers. It was an early evening and the car aircon was on full blast, I remember that moment well. The song came from one of his mixtapes, a collection of the then-latest UK dance hits. The 90s never had it so good with all these fantastic records from both sides of the Atlantic.

From my iTunes playlists.

The Tin Tin Out mixes in this CD maxi-single (under Paul Oakenfold's Perfecto label) straight up blows the roof off the place with that wobbly bassline and catchy hook. As if I need to tell you, "Passion" is based on The Flirts' original '80s hit, produced by the incomparable Bobby Orlando. Initially I thought it was Jon singing in there. I learned somewhere that Norman Cook had a hand in this affair.

Jon of the Pleased Wimmin is one of the UK's best DJs. He enjoys dressing up in drag, such as the one you see on the CD's cover. I am a massive fan-- his music speaks for itself. I always have a lot of fun listening to his sets, a lot of wonderful tunes that appeal to both the poptart and the clubhead in me. I have some of his DJ mix sets, too, all of them a brilliant mix of records to dance and prance to. Jon is one of my all-time favorite DJs, someone I admire and respect because of his musical artistry.

This is still a bop in 2020:
